From the summit of Brunelleschi's Dome, Florence glows in the Tuscan Winter Morning Sun.

East Side of Cúpula de Santa María del Fiore

Brunelleschi designed and built the Cúpula de Santa María del Fiore. Previously he had been selected to collaborate with Lorenzo Ghiberti in sculpting the doors of the Cathedral Baptistery, but declined.

Looking East you can see Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence, and Piazzale Michelangelo.

Looking North, you can see Apennine Mountains in the distance.

Looking West-North West, you can see the dome atop Cappelle Medicee, where several Medici are entombed, which is attached to Basilica di San Lorenzo.

And you can see the train station.

Giotto’s Campanile is named after, as well as designed and built by Giotto di Bondone, who also designed and built Florence Cathedral.

Giotto’s architecture is Gothic/proto-Renaissance and is thus a transition away from Byzantine and Romanesque.
