Cappelle Medici and Piazza Santa Maria Novella
Sat Nov 25, 2017 12:00 pmWe visited Cappelle Medici inside Basilica of San Lorenzo, and then photographed the facade of Basilica di' Santa Maria Novella, from Piazza Santa Maria Novella (before touring the basilica).
According to wikipedia, San Lorenzo was the parish church of the Medici family. Medici Pope Leo X commissioned Michelangelo to design the facade, but the work was never completed.
Medici Chapel is more or less a mausoleum containing Medici tombs.
Night is the name of the sculpture on the left, and Day is the name of the sculpture on the right.
Hold on to your money belts! The main sport in Piazza Santa Maria Novella is photographing the facade of Basilica di’ Santa Maria Novella while dodging pan-handlers!
Mrs. Trent is exhausted. Mission accomplished. In all fairness tho, I did try to share my tripe sandwich with her (to no avail).
