Charles Bridge was built in the 14 Century by Charles IV, who was the first King of Bohemia to also be Holy Roman Emperor.
In the medieval heirarchy of nobility, it was not uncommon for Kings and Lords to preside over multiple Kingdoms and Principalities, and Charles IV certainly did. I guess you could say that he had his own empire within an empire.
Vltava River is somewhat navigable for commercial traffic, and Prague does have a port.
You can tell by the angle of light and orientation of the weir that you are looking south east from Charles Bridge.
Karlův Most in the Thirty Years War
Stipulate that the Thirty Years War was nominally a war between Protestants and Catholics.
The spark that lit the fire was Bitva na Bílé hoře, after which the defeated Bohemian Protestants were executed and their severed heads were displayed on Charles Bridge.
Then much later in the same war, the Protestant Swedish Army ravished Bohemia, but were stopped at Charles Bridge.
Powder Tower is a representation of a city gate. The walls had become obsolete, and the existing gate had become an eyesore.
