Prenzlauer Berg is a trendy district in the former East Berlin.

Prenzlauer Berg

Prenzlauer Berg was a run-down part of East Berlin which after re-unification became first home to squatters, but then rapidly gentrified.

Prenzlauer Berg’s desirability is on account of the fact that it is both a planned, mixed-use community and is filled with original, historic 19th-Century buildings.

Kulturbrauerei Prenzlauer Berg

Kulturbrauerei is an entertainment complex which was formerly a brewery, and has been preserved for its historic, 19th Century Industrial Architecture.

Konnopke’s Imbiss

Berlin’s favorite Schnellimbiss, or fast food, is Currywurst.

Schloss Charlottenburg

Schloss Charlottenburg is a large, sprawling Baroque Palace, which I think is similar in purpose to Nymphenburg or Schönbrunn. The coresponding political entity would have been the Electorate of Brandenburg followed by the Kingdom of Prussia and then the German Empire.

We happened to be next door at Museum Berggruen bingeing on modern art.
