Oltrarno
Sun Nov 26, 2017 2:11 pmWe spent the afternoon exploring Oltrarno, including Brancacci Chapel, enjoying the views.
Traditionally, Oltrarno has been the poorer working-class side of Florence, analogous to Trastevere in Rome. It is generally less touristy.
Brancacci Chapel contains Frescos by Masaccio, Masolino, and Filippino Lippi. For instance, on the right you can see Lippi’s Fresco of St. Peter Crucified Upside-Down.
Iconic View is even more iconic with me in it!
Below you can see the River Arno.
Rising above it is easy to spot Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence on the right, and Florence Cathedral and Bell Tower on the left.
In this angle, Florence Cathedral and Bell Tower are on the right, while Palazzo Vecchio is visible on the left.
This view is from Abbazia di San Miniato al Monte.
