We spent the afternoon exploring Oltrarno, including Brancacci Chapel, enjoying the views.

Oltrarno in Florence Italy

Traditionally, Oltrarno has been the poorer working-class side of Florence, analogous to Trastevere in Rome. It is generally less touristy.

Cappella Brancacci in Santa Maria del Carmine in Florence

Brancacci Chapel contains Frescos by Masaccio, Masolino, and Filippino Lippi. For instance, on the right you can see Lippi’s Fresco of St. Peter Crucified Upside-Down.
