San Miniato al Monte
Sun Nov 26, 2017 4:52 pmSan Miniato al Monte is a Romanesque Church (and abby), with a Romanesque Marble Facade, the place to hear live Gregorian Chants.

The marble floor in the nave dates to 1207.

The above mosaic depicts Christ, Mary, and St. Minias. Mosaic art generally predates the Renaissance.

Directly beneath the Sacristry, is a Grotto filled with tombs, where you can (and should!) enjoy a service featuring live Gregorian Chants.
To clarify, we are standing on some old dude’s grave, in a grotto, listening to Gregorian Chants. Does that give you goose pimples? That gives me goose pimples!
