Potholes Coulee and Frenchman Coulee both spill into the Columbia River just north of Vantage Washington, in theory also hosted an Ice Age Deluge.

In Potholes Coulee, we hiked 17 refreshing miles surrounded by magnificent views of the lakes, coulee walls, and Columbia River Gorge.

Ancient Lake in the Left Arm of Potholes Coulee

In theory, Ancient Lakes, in this case in the Left Arm of Potholes Coulee, were drilled by eddies in a large flood.

The most convenient access for Potholes Coulee is via Ancient Lakes Lower Trailhead. It was really cold.
